Groundhog Day lookalike with an immersive action twist

My favorite film is Groundhog Day: the film has become a genre of its own, a type of film under which Source Code neatly fits. What I enjoyed about the latter film was that it sidesteps the scientific what-ifs and digs into the characters and their interactions with each other. I enjoyed the ending because I felt that it had been earned, and thought that the implication of what the “source code” was all about provided a neat way for the viewer to have their cake and eat it too.

Michelle Monaghan and Jake Gyllenhaal are both fantastic, having a real chemistry from the beginning. Vera Farmiga provides stability and heart, and a Scott Bakula cameo never hurts (the “oh boy” when he answered the call gave it away).

Source Code is a good addition to the genre, and makes me want to go watch Edge of Tomorrow again, then Groundhog Day, then start them all over again.
