2007 – Edgar Wright

Re-Watched August 26, 2019

A parody of great action movies that becomes a satire with an intelligent focus

Edgar Wright makes the best pure entertainment movies today and I will fight anyone who says otherwise to the death. Hot Fuzz twists all the conventions of the action and detective movies that it so delightfully parodies.

The central twist is unexpected in its simplicity and each actor somehow finds a way to make their character more than the cliches and tropes that initially define them. Hot Fuzz is a fantastic film and the world always needs more Timothy Dalton as a bad guy (looking at you, The Rocketeer)
